My wife and I are excited to be traveling to Ecuador in the Fall of 2022, from our home here in Canada. While there, we will also be embarking on a – 5 day small ship ⛴ Expedition Cruise in the – Galapagos Islands.
As I do suffer from {Seasickness} like so many others, I decided to do some research on – motion sickness wristbands.
After reading countless reviews on the many wristbands available for Natural Nausea Relief, it was the {Sea-Band Acupressure Wristband}, I kept coming back to.
I have always been on the lookout for effective and natural remedies, to relieve my symptoms of seasickness.
Essential oils for example, applied behind the ear, is one other natural relief remedy I’ve tried with limited success.
Luckily, it is only the rolling motion that affects me most, so on our cruise vacations we’ve taken over the years, I’ve been pretty safe.
This is only because of the enormous size of the 🛳 ships these days and limited motion one experiences as a result.
However, when on smaller 🛥 ships and 🚤 boats, things change quickly!
These are very affordable all purpose natural cotton wristbands that have a plastic pressure point knob inserted on the inside of each band.
They contain no latex for those with allergies and can be used in the water and washed at any time.
They come in a pack of 2, one for each wrist.
The concept is very simple and uses an acupressure point, one that is used to relieve symptoms of nausea.
“Sea bands work by exerting pressure on pericardium 6 {P6} – acupuncture points below your wrists.”
Various clinical studies have shown nausea and sickness relief, by applying pressure on this specific point.
Sea bands apparently are used frequently in the medical profession, to reduce nausea in post-operative patients, those undergoing chemotherapy and with other patients experiencing nausea related symptoms.
Special Note:
Sea-Bands will only be effective, if the pressure point knob is placed on the exact location of the P6.
The Nei Guan {P6} can be found three finger widths below the top of your wrist, on the inside of your arm.
The specific acupressure point is located between the tendons – when putting on a sea band. The plastic knob of each wristband has to be placed directly on the – Pericardium 6.
My wife and I have both received our Sea-Bands shipped directly to our door via – Amazon.
I am very excited to give these a try on our upcoming small ship expedition in the Galapagos Islands.
From what I understand, seas can be quite unpredictable and rolling, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed they will relieve any nausea I may experience.
Stay tuned for an update upon our return home in mid December of 2022.
The jury is definitely out on how effective any of these nausea relief products on the marketplace are. I think it is based on each individual, on how effective they can be.

While on our amazing ⛴ Galapagos Islands Expedition Cruise, thankfully we really didn’t experience and rough seas at any time.
I did wear the bands one day when we were out and about on the smaller zodiac excursions and I didn’t feel any nausea setting in. So, perhaps they did help! 🙂
