For years now, our family and friends have been dining at this beautiful 🏡 Heritage House restaurant known as – Spinnakers Gastro Brewpub & Guesthouses in 🌷 Victoria, British Columbia.
Situated within minutes, or a very short stroll along the beautiful promenade sea wall to downtown’s very popular inner harbor and area attractions, Spinnakers is ideally located in the City.

This is not your typical Brewpub and when you walk into this restored 🏡 1884 Heritage House, you will be surprised as we were, to discover a lovely dining setting indoors or outside on their view patio.
All offering stunning views of Victoria’s Beautiful Inner Harbour!
Your chef’s are not hidden inside the kitchen at this establishment, but are hard had work preparing meals right out front in a unique open setting.
Open for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and welcoming you for just snacks as well, this restaurant has been a traditional favorite for years, among locals and returning visitors.
Partnered with over thirty five local area 👨 farmers and producers, rest assured your meals will be served freshly prepared, with dishes that follow the taste and flavor of 🌲 Vancouver Island.
Freshly Prepared Meals And Craft Beer Always
If you’re like my wife and I in that “Baby Boomer” category or older (born from 1946 to 1964}, we are definitely more health conscious in the foods we eat these days.
We definitely pay more attention to and have a closer look at what we eat and drink, especially when dining out.
For example, a few seasons back I have discovered the pleasure of drinking locally brewed natural craft 🍻 beer.
I really had no idea beforehand, the pleasure of drinking these carefully crafted beers, and just how unnatural and unhealthy your typical store bought generic beer was for you.
Like fine 🍷 wine, carefully brewed craft beer has certainly come of age in the past few years, becoming increasing popular and requested among consumers.

Then why not select their popular beer pairing, for a sample of a few of their many choices on the list. A perfect way to find your favorite as we did on this visit.
Below is a sample of a few of the many craft beers to choose from that we enjoyed during our visit.
All four exceptionally good with each having their own unique taste and flavor!
Note:
Spinnakers is Victoria’s only pub that offers a ‘Daily Cask Special,’ tapped Monday through Friday each day at 4pm.
The menu is filled with a variety of dishes to select from, making it very hard to decide on exactly what to choose.
Along with this, they’re always adding daily features and specials that are just simply too hard to resist!
Below, is a sample of what my wife and I enjoyed on our visit, giving you a look of what to expect when coming for dinner at Spinnakers.
Appetizers:
Seafood Chowder
I started with a cup of 🐟 seafood chowder, a west coast favorite. I’ve enjoyed this soup since a young boy, having been lucky enough to have been raised in Victoria.
A cream based west coast style soup, served with fresh and delicious seafood alongside a slice of fresh bread for traditional dipping.
As a starter, the cup was plenty, especially if you planning a 3 course dinner!
Goat Cheese & Beet Salad
My wife selected this healthy 🥗 salad served with spinach, roasted beets, goat cheese, spiced local hazelnuts all mixed in a tasty malt vinaigrette.
Freshly prepared as is usual, and the half order was a perfect healthy choice and starter for dinner.
Main Course:
Daily Featured Pub Pie
For dinner, I chose the 🥧 Pub Pie, and on this day the chef’s were featuring Curry Chicken Pie.
Prepared with Japanese turnips, carrots, tender chicken chunks mixed with Highland beef gravy, all inside a tender house made pastry. Alongside, accompanied with fresh buttermilk mashed potatoes.
Simply delicious!
Seasonal Special – Crispy Skinned Sablefish
My wife selected this seasonal special favorite, served and mixed with Cortes Island Clams, Salt Spring Island shiitakes, BC grown bok choy and new potatoes.
All served in a tasty hot and sour sesame broth, with pieces of Bamfield kelp.
All local, all fresh, all delicious!
Dessert:
Local Fruit Crisp
A mouthwatering bowl of local fruit crisp, served warm with house made ice cream.
A perfect selection to end a fabulous dinner!
Green Tea Cheesecake
A unique and special Silk Road Matcha Green Tea Cheesecake topped with fresh raspberries and white chocolate shavings. Served on top of a sugar cookie crust. Amazing!
So as you can see, this is not your typical Brew Pub and definitely worth stepping away from downtown’s busy core and enjoying a fabulous meal and quality crafted beer.
All, without the inflated prices you will find in the crowded and busy tourist section in downtown Victoria.
Throw in the spectacular waterfront view, and you have the perfect dining setting and location in the Capital City!
It’s an easy stroll along the scenic walkway from downtown, or just a few minutes drive to Spinnakers. It is definitely worth your while!
As well, enjoy their on site store where you can purchase a variety of home made delights such as; vinegars, bakery items, in house crafted specialty chocolates, beers, ciders and much more.

On our latest visit to Victoria, my wife and I had the pleasure of once again dining at Spinnakers!
It was such a pleasure to meet Paul; Spinnakers Publican on this visit and learn in great detail, the full history of this amazing establishment.
Upstairs above the main floor restaurant, is the actual pub itself and definitely worth checking out.
The 🍺 Brewpub features too many house brewed specialty beers to name here in this post, but it’s a great place come and enjoy your favorite beverage while taking in the commanding view of downtown Victoria’s inner harbor!
Come on up and enjoy one of the many delicious craft beer selections, or perhaps sample a few beer pairings and see which one you like best! 🙂
I’ve included another sneak peak at what we enjoyed on this visit for dinner. Again, there’s so many tempting items on the menu to choose from, it was so difficult to decide!
Homemade Fresh Seafood Chowder
This is one of my absolute favorites, and has been for many years while growing up in the city. Always prepared fresh to order, this award winning cream based West Coast style chowder is served with house baked fresh artisan bread.
Mouth watering and delicious!!
Vegetarian Seasonal Soup
A Vegetarian Seasonal Soup Served with house baked bread. Another superb starter, ideal for the vegetarian in the family or non seafood lover.
A great choice to start your meal!
Roasted Chicken Pizza
I simply could not resist trying their freshly made gourmet 🍕 pizza, when I saw a server walk past me taking one to another table.
Topped with bacon, red onion, spinach, nostrala & feta cheese, tzatziki, lemon zest, on a red fife crust, it was outstanding, and perfect with an ice cold house craft beer!
Spinnakers Clam Fettuccini
Fettuccini served with garlic, anchovy & chili butter, fresh parsley, parmadammer ( parmesan style cheese) and baguette.
Just another very tasty and inviting seafood combination dish to try.
Fruit Crisp
If you are coming for dinner, then do leave room for their delicious homemade desserts. I absolutely love their seasonal fruit crisp with house made ice cream.
To die for!! 🙂
Specialty Dessert With Ice Cream
Another outstanding meal and craft beer pairing, complete with excellent service and a commanding view of the oceanfront at the same time.
