Do you like to eat and drink? If so, then there is no doubt that Barcelona is the place for you, where can you find recommended restaurants in Barcelona? Good thing you asked, here’s a guide for you.
Even if you apply only 10% of my recommendations. From here, I promise you that you will not leave your trip hungry and certainly not thirsty. Food, ladies and gentlemen, is an existential need of man and is also a pleasurable activity as part of man’s sensual life. Obtaining food, preparing it and serving it have throughout history been a central social phenomenon and today in the age of Instagram food is a field and even a real social phenomenon, an object of media and artistic representation and a central axis in any discussion or critique.
I always say that you can only really get to know a new place through your stomach, and if I received a cent for every complaint I received about the food here during my life in the city, I was a rich woman, so I decided to make a “correction” to the culinary name that came to the city and explain to you that only tourists don’t know where to eat ! (But luckily for you, you have me…). Here’s some background.
I completely understand why tourists are less likely to find a connection to the local food, the food in our tiny country is excellent, the service is courteous, and let’s not talk about the breakfasts that just looking at them makes you full. But imagine for a moment that everywhere we traveled we were served the same food (sounds boring, huh?). Every place has an identity that is made up of many small particles (history, conquerors, geographical location, etc.), and food is a perfect way to get to know the history of the place you have arrived at and the vast variety of foods and cuisines in Spain and Barcelona itself are actually a mirror image of the human diversity embedded in life themselves.
In Barcelona you can’t talk about food without talking about wine and here, friends, wine accompanies almost every meal and if it’s not wine then the Catalans will probably find another type of alcohol to enjoy.
In Spain you can find restaurants that are over 150 years old, some that are passed down from generation to generation and each one of them has its own story and I being a social creature by nature and over the years here I got to know the different generations in some of those restaurants and they got to know me and my family, it’s always fun to enter the place where you feel at home.
And now after years of in-depth research (after which I had to spend extra hours in the gym…) I am proud to present to you a list of recommended restaurants in Barcelona and how is it possible without the bars that will guarantee you a real culinary experience. Shall we begin?
